Audrey Doherty

Founder & President

Audrey Doherty is the principal of Chemistry PR. With nearly twenty years of public relations and marketing experience, Audrey has established strong credentials in strategic planning, media relations, social media, marketing, business-to-business, promotions, sponsorships and special events.


Audrey’s industry experience encompasses commercial and residential real estate, travel, restaurants, consumer products and services, architecture and interior design. Her recent client list Includes top brands including: Aventine, Andaz San Diego, Hyatt Regency La Jolla, Marriott La Jolla, Marriott Del Mar, Waste Management of Southern California, Barona Resort & Casino, DPR Construction, KMA Architecture & Engineering, BOMA San Diego, Mister A’s, Mille Fleurs, and National University.


She also serves as the Executive Director of the San Diego Building Owners & Managers Association, the leading voice of commercial real estate in San Diego. As executive director, she manages public relations and marketing, membership services, community outreach and special events planning for more than two dozen commercial real estate events and educational programs annually.


Audrey is the recipient of numerous Silver Bernays Awards from the Public Relations Society of America, San Diego Chapter including Best Consumer Service Launch, Best Creative Tactic, Best Institutional Program, Best Travel, Tourism and Hospitality B2B Program and Best Public Affairs Program.


A published author, her articles about real estate and hospitality issues and trends have appeared in the San Diego Business Journal and The Daily Transcript, and she has appeared as a spokesperson on many television news programs including NBC 7/39, KUSI, KGTV, KFMB and FOX 6 News.


Prior to launching Chemistry PR, Audrey served as an account manager in the public relations Division of Stoorza Communications. She has also worked as a public relations consultant for Sierra On-Line, Showtime Networks, Inc., Saban Entertainment and Warner Vision.


While at Murphy/O’Brien Communications in Los Angeles, Audrey developed and implemented national spokesperson media tours, press trips, print and broadcast promotions and special events for a roster of travel, restaurant, and consumer product and lifestyle clients including the Carmel Business Association (Carmel-by-the-Sea), Nestlé, The Peninsula Group Hotels, Wailea Destination Association and Renaissance Hotels and Resorts. Her public relations career began at Rogers & Associates where her clients included VCRPlus+, DirecTV and Atari Games Corp.


Audrey earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication Studies from the University of California Los Angeles. She is a past President of the Public Relations Society of America, San Diego Chapter and serves on the Advisory Board of the Center for Community Solutions.

Kathleen Gonzales

Sr Account Executive

Kathleen Gonzales is a seasoned public relations strategist and writer, with extensive professional management experience in the public and private sectors. She has been engaged in community, corporate and media relations; corporate communications; events and communications planning; issues and crisis management; philanthropy and cause-related marketing; niche and online promotion; social media and website content management.


Kathleen received her degree in Mass Communications and Journalism with an emphasis in Electronic Media Production. For many years she worked in Los Angeles doing freelance production work before being offered a permanent position with ESPN/MRB Productions as their Production Coordinator. After Los Angeles she moved to Denver, CO to work for the Denver Broncos as their Marketing and Sales Manager as well as production on game day entertainment with in-house productions company, Thundervision. After spending four seasons with the Denver Broncos she decided to move back to California to be closer to her family and made San Diego her home.


In addition to her background in television production, Kathleen held communications and PR management positions within various non-profit organizations, including the San Diego Museum of Art, and the corporate sector where she served as Director of Investor Relations for a commercial real estate firm.


Kathleen prides herself on her ability to make genuine connections with people from all walks of life. She takes a personal approach to each client and strives for a clear understanding of their specific needs and desires. Public Relations is her passion and she determined go above and beyond in order to deliver impactful results.

Marisa Romero

Account Executive

Marisa Romero joined the Chemistry PR team as an enthusiastic brand strategist, with a passion for developing impactful solutions through multi-channel platforms. The diversity of her skills range from business development, non-profit fundraising, event planning, influencer marketing, branding and public relations.


Marisa graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science. She applied her methodologies into the creative campaigns at her first job with, which was eventually purchased by the San Diego Union-Tribune. Working for the start-up agency gave her an opportunity to work with some of San Diego’s most innovative and trendy lifestyle clients. She continued her career working with a few visionary entrepreneurs until finding her niche in community development at the Hillcrest Business Association as the Lifestyle and Events Director. Marisa assisted in major philanthropic projects and upon her last year with the association, developed a landmark community place-making event that advocated for “retrofitting public spaces”- a legacy she hoped would one day be implemented to improve tourism and sustainability initiatives in Hillcrest.


While producing large-scale community events, Marisa developed strong relationships with local and national lifestyle brands. Her strategic background provided just the right blend of creativity, planning, and execution that many of her clients needed to adapt to the evolving San Diego market. FruitCraft Fermentary + Distillery recognized her small business advocacy work and invited Marisa to join the team during its relocation to Hillcrest. Through this new opportunity, she progressed her education in the wine & spirits industry, managed the business’ internal + external communications, developed new event programs, and assisted in securing strategic partnerships.


Marisa’s professional mission is to encourage and educate local business owners to have larger roles in social responsibility. Her personal values resonate with her approach to long-term relationship development with her clients. She provides guidance through the delivery of authentic communication and synthesizing big picture ideas into ROI focused results.

Caitlin Franscell

Account Coordinator

Caitlin is a strong asset to the Chemistry PR team thanks to her media savvy, social media expertise and project management experience. Her strengths and skills are wide reaching – creative storytelling, community and business partnership development, digital and creative marketing, as well as sales and operations.


Caitlin supports Chemistry PR’s accounts with activities including media and blogger relations, content development and social media strategy and execution.


Prior to joining Chemistry PR, Caitlin worked as the Marketing & Sales Manager at the Mount View Hotel & Spa in Calistoga, CA. She is a graduate of the University of San Francisco with a degree in Communications Studies with an emphasis in Public Relations.

Regina Toom

PR Assistant

Regina Toom is a PR Assistant at Chemistry PR. She provides day-to-day administrative support for the agency’s real estate, hospitality and lifestyle accounts for which she manages various social media platforms, assists in coordinating special events for BOMA San Diego and maintains membership and media databases. Regina is also charged with managing office operations, coordinating team building programs and directing vendors.


Regina originally hails from Tallinn, Estonia. She moved to the United States to learn the English language and obtain a degree in business. She has a passion for learning, developing new skills and building relationships that have helped Chemistry PR grow into one of Southern California’s leading public relations agencies. Outside of the office she enjoys traveling, walking her frisky dog Manna and exploring the culinary and natural wonders of San Diego.
