18 Aug How Chemistry PR’s Pro-Bono PR Support Helped Scoop San Diego Hit a Record-Breaking Milestone
A record-breaking moment for Scoop San Diego. Chemistry PR, named by Forbes as one of the best PR agencies in America, was honored to be part of the presentation of a $60,000 check to charity partner Feeding San Diego — the festival’s largest donation yet. The funds will help provide 120,000 meals for San Diegans facing hunger.
Held in North Park on June 28, the annual Scoop San Diego Ice Cream Festival drew more than 6,000 attendees who gathered to taste frozen treats from 35 local businesses. In addition to raising a record $60,000, festival goers donated over 100 pounds of canned and non-perishable food onsite. This year also marked the launch of an ongoing partnership between Scoop San Diego and Feeding San Diego, with 100% of net proceeds supporting the nonprofit’s countywide hunger-relief programs. Last year, Feeding San Diego provided more than 31 million meals to children, families, seniors, college students, military families, and veterans across San Diego County.
The festival also crowned a winner of Scoop San Diego’s Best Flavor Award. A celebrity judging panel comprised of Sam Zien, Top Chef alum Zuliya Khawaja, and Bachelor Nation’s Becca Kufrin and Thomas Jacobs named COCOBOMB the winner for its Mango Sticky Rice Ice Cream. Wild Child placed second with its Lemon Meringue flavor, and Paleta Zonkey rounded out the top three with its Ube Mochi Paleta.
As Scoop San Diego’s pro-bono PR agency for the past five years, Chemistry PR has helped share the festival’s story and watched its community impact grow year over year.
Chemistry PR Founder and CEO Audrey Doherty noted, “Daniel Szpak is one of the most passionate, kind-hearted, and generous people Chemistry PR has ever had the chance to work alongside. His commitment to giving back is truly inspiring, and his ability to tap into the ever-growing cultural appetite for ice cream and frozen treats is a powerful example of how to build a movement around one of life’s simplest pleasures. Chemistry PR is honored to support Scoop San Diego and raise awareness for such a worthy cause.”
Congratulations to Scoop San Diego, Feeding San Diego, and the entire community that showed up to make this record-breaking milestone possible.
