Goal: Following a $100 million transformation, Sheraton San Diego Resort & Marina partnered with Chemistry PR to unveil its reimagined resort and introduce three new culinary destinations: Rumorosa, Brewery X Harbor Island, and Sunglow. The objective was to reposition the hotel as a revitalized coastal retreat for travelers, locals, and media alike—elevating its visibility, attracting new audiences, and driving momentum for both the renovation and the launch of its new food and beverage concepts.
Strategy: Chemistry PR developed a comprehensive communications campaign to relaunch the resort through the lens of modern hospitality, coastal design, and experiential dining. Messaging emphasized the property’s refreshed design, updated amenities, and commitment to delivering standout food and beverage experiences. Rumorosa’s chef-driven, Baja-inspired menu, Brewery X’s laid-back craft beer approach, and Sunglow’s bright all-day café were introduced through press previews, hosted influencer visits, and targeted pitching to lifestyle, travel, food, and design outlets. The team also organized a dedicated group press trip and coordinated individual media visits to offer firsthand experiences of the resort. Influencer partnerships and media outreach were timed around key seasonal and cultural moments to sustain momentum and maximize reach across earned and social channels.
Results: The campaign delivered 189 earned media placements with more than 6.5 million estimated views and a total reach of over 2.4 billion. Notable coverage included features in Food Network, San Diego Magazine, Hotel Management, Hospitality Net, KPBS, and the OC Business Journal. Influencer partnerships generated more than 1.76 million estimated views on social media and over 185,000 engagements across Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook. The opening of Rumorosa, Brewery X Harbor Island, and Sunglow became central to the story, capturing media interest and reinforcing the Sheraton’s identity as a refreshed, culinary-forward destination on San Diego’s waterfront.
